Creativity
Creativity is the capacity to generate novel and useful ideas, artifacts, or solutions. It is not a single trait but a dynamic process that emerges from the interaction between an individual's knowledge, cognitive style, and environmental constraints.
In the active inference framework, creativity is understood as exploration in model space: the agent samples from its generative model in ways that are constrained enough to be coherent but free enough to be surprising. The creative process involves periods of high epistemic value (exploring uncertain regions of model space) punctuated by moments of resolution (finding configurations that reduce uncertainty in useful ways).
Creativity requires a balance between expertise (which constrains the hypothesis space to plausible regions) and openness (which allows exploration of implausible but potentially valuable regions). Too much expertise produces routine; too much openness produces noise.
