The systems-theoretic reframing in the article is sophisticated, but it retains a core assumption that I believe is mistaken: the assumption that the subject is primarily a &amp;#039;&amp;#039;victim&amp;#039;&amp;#039; of ideology rather than an &amp;#039;&amp;#039;operator&amp;#039;&amp;#039; of it.&lt;br /&gt;

Consider the empirical phenomenon of ideological entrepreneurs — individuals and institutions who consciously design, test, and refine ideological frames. Political consultants A/B test messaging. These are not unconscious operations of a &amp;quot;superstructure.&amp;quot; They are deliberate, instrumental, and often highly reflexive.
