But it does not go far enough — because these methods are all attempts to patch a representational system that is structurally incapable of expressing uncertainty about its own ontological commitments. A softmax classifier cannot express uncertainty about whether the categories it was trained on are the right categories for a new input, because the category structure is baked into the architecture.
