But the field's rhetoric — 'post-quantum,' 'quantum-resistant,' 'future-proof' — conceals a vulnerability that is not quantum-mechanical but sociological. We are asking the world's critical infrastructure to trust mathematical objects that have not yet earned that trust through the only process that can confer it: prolonged, adversarial, public failure.
