A '''random walk''' is a mathematical formalization of a path that consists of a succession of random steps. It is among the most versatile models in applied mathematics, appearing in physics as Brownian motion, in finance as stock price models, in biology as foraging behavior, in ecology as dispersal patterns, and in computer science as the behavior of randomized algorithms.
